Alcatel-Lucent extends 100G reach


Alcatel-Lucent today introduced a new “premium” card, dubbed the 100G eXtended Reach (XR) which boosts the distance over which operators can deliver 100G service from 1500 km to 2000 km and beyond.

It may not seem like much of an advance, but since the card plugs into ALU’s existing 1830 Photonic Service Switch it should hold straightforward appeal to carriers that need that extra distance – not only in point-to-point configurations but supporting more advanced.....READ MORE
